About the Artist - Jack Brusca

Jack Brusca (1942-1993) was an American artist known for his contributions to the LGBTQ+ art scene in the 1970s and 1980s. Brusca was a prominent figure in the New York art scene during a tumultuous period marked by the AIDS crisis and the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. He co-founded the Gay Men's Health Crisis, an organization dedicated to supporting those affected by AIDS.


Brusca's art often explored themes of sexuality, identity, and activism. His works, including paintings and sculptures, reflected the struggles and triumphs of the LGBTQ+ community during a time of social upheaval. Brusca was recognized for his unique blend of pop art and political commentary, addressing issues of discrimination and prejudice.
