About the Artist - Pierre Tual

Pierre Tual, born on June 6, 1941, in Loire-Atlantique, is an abstract sculptor known for his exploration of emptiness, balance, and form. Graduating from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nantes and the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Tual's sculptures, crafted from materials like Corten steel, ceramics, and bronze, embody organic folds, delicate curves, and tenuous balances. Exhibiting globally, from New York to Copenhagen, he joined the Gaia Gallery in 2019. Tual's artistic process involves overturning and manipulating objects, transcending their utilitarian nature to create a new spatial experience. His sculptures, distinct from functional objects, represent a metamorphosis, intertwining color, form, and space. Tual's work, showcased at prominent venues such as the Center Pompidou, reflects a commitment to preserving the living spirit of mobility within his art, exploring tension, fragility, and philosophical values inherent in the transformative nature of sculpture.
