About the Artist - Henry Moore

He was born in Castleford, England, and initially trained as a teacher before pursuing art. Moore's work is characterized by organic, abstract forms inspired by nature and human figures. He gained international acclaim for his sculptures in bronze and stone, often featuring reclining figures. Notably, during World War II, he produced drawings of Londoners sheltering in the Underground during air raids. Moore's art is celebrated for its fusion of abstraction and tradition, leaving an indelible mark on 20th-century sculpture.
