About the Artist - Pablo Palazuelo
Pablo Palazuelo (1916–2007) was a Spanish abstract painter and sculptor associated with the avant-garde movement. Born in Madrid, he studied architecture and engineering before turning to art. In the 1940s, Palazuelo joined the Spanish intelligentsia in exile, where he encountered the works of European modernists like Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich, influencing his shift towards abstraction.
Palazuelo's art is characterized by geometric shapes, organic forms, and a fascination with the relationship between space and color. He co-founded the El Paso group, a Spanish avant-garde movement, in the 1950s. Later in his career, he gained international recognition for his innovative exploration of mathematical and mystical elements in art.
Throughout his life, Palazuelo delved into various artistic mediums, including painting, sculpture, and printmaking. His work often reflected his interest in the intersection of art and science, merging the aesthetic and the intellectual. Known for his dedication to geometric abstraction, Palazuelo's legacy endures through his influential contributions to the development of abstract art in the 20th century.
