About the Artist - Willi Kissmer
Willi Kissmer (1951-2018) was a German artist known for his contemporary figurative art, particularly in etchings and aquatints. Born on December 24, 1951, in Duisburg, Germany, Kissmer initially pursued a career in music, simultaneously appearing as a rock musician and releasing three albums between 1971 and 1976.
After numerous educational trips to countries such as Russia, Egypt, South America, Greece, Italy, and Turkey, Kissmer shifted his focus to visual arts in 1980. He taught printmaking at the University of Duisburg and established his first workshop for graphic printing in 1984. Notably, he began painting fabrics in 1984 and created his first torsos in 1985.
Kissmer's artistic journey included an educational stay in India from 1986 to 1987, and he later founded his studio and workshop in the "Hebeturm" tower in Duisburg in 1989. He gained international recognition with exhibitions in the United States, England, California, and Nevada. In 2001, he established a summer studio in Bourgogne, France.
Willi Kissmer passed away on July 27, 2018, in Duisburg, Germany, leaving behind a legacy of unique and evocative figurative art.
